OTTAWA – March 30, 2012 – The federal government's Budget 2012 has resulted in cuts to the First Nations Statistical Institute's operational funding by 50% in 2012-2013 and eliminated all of its funding in 2013-14.

The NHS (National Household Survey) collected social and economic information that communities need to plan services such as child care, schooling, family services, housing, roads and public transportation, and skills training for employment.
Approximately 4.5 million households received NHS questionnaires.
Participation in this survey was voluntary.
