Ontario's Government Launches Data Strategy Consultations

Ontario's Government is working for the People by seeking public input for a provincial strategy that will help Ontarians and businesses benefit directly from the data economy, while being confident that their privacy is protected.

Data holds vast possibilities that can help all industries while ensuring public trust and security. The development of an Ontario data strategy will be guided by core principles—which include a focus on ensuring that data privacy and protection is paramount, and that data will be kept safe and secure.

CIC Webinar: Data Days – Building Knowledge and Excitement Around Data

Data Days are gatherings that focus on building a common understanding and improving literacy around data and highlight ways that data can improve the community. Data Days are designed to help increase connections between data producers and data users and allow local users to network and learn from each other.

This webinar will illustrate how and why three community groups have organized and delivered Data Days as they share lessons learned and good practices for a successful event in your community.

Become a member of the National Advisory Council on Poverty

The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development is is seeking members to fill the planned establishment of a National Advisory Council on Poverty (hereinafter referred to as “the Advisory Council”) to advise the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development on poverty.

Launch of Canada’s National Action Plan on Open Government 2018-2020

Last summer Open Government invited the to comment on the draft commitments for Canada’s 2018-2020 National Action Plan on Open Government. The Action Plan is now complete and offers ten commitments aimed at advancing progress on government accountability and citizen participation. It includes commitments and activities, such as upgrading digital government services, renewing relationships with Indigenous Peoples, and opening up more access to federal scientific research and data.
