For all census families in low income, all couple families in low income, all lone-parent families in low income, and all family units in low income, the table contains the following information:
- number of families in low income
- median after-tax family income in low income ($)
Those variables are broken down into:
- with 0 children
- with 1 child
- with 2 children
- with 3+ children
- total
This product includes a custom tabulation at standard T1FF geographies as well as Census Subdivisions. Census Subdivisions are indicated by Level of Geography = 91.
These tables provide counts of families in low income, by family type and by the number of children in each family. Where the original table provided counts of persons in low income in families with 0, 1, 2 and 3+ children, the custom table has added a ‘With Children’ category.
Additionally, lone-parent families are split out by male and female lone-parent families.
In 2018, Statistics Canada updated the Census Family Low Income Measure methodology. The following tables provide data using the updated methodology.
