Taking Scope of Aboriginal Issues in Canada: Potential and Limits of the Aboriginal Data Landscape

November 2, 2016 1:30-4:30 pm

The Aboriginal data landscape has changed considerably over the past decade, with new data sources becoming available to address issues related to First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

This interactive session will explore the statistical data available from Statistics Canada and the First Nations Information Governance Centre, including a discussion of the background and development of these data sources, the questions they can be used to address, and the limits of this potential.

With:

  • Martin Cooke, University of Waterloo (chair)
  • Tim Leonard, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada
  • Maria Santos, First Nations Information Governance Centre
  • Vivian O’Donnell, Statistics Canada
