The dissemination strategy of data quality indicators has been revamped for the 2021 Census of Population with the aim of providing more detailed information about data quality to users of Census data. For the first time in Census history, confidence intervals accompany long-form questionnaire estimates whenever technically feasible. This addition supports users in easily performing statistical inference. The global non-response rate used in previous Census cycles has been replaced by the total non-response rate alongside detailed information from newly developed imputation and non-response rates per question. This webinar will provide an overview of these new quality indicators, their definition, and indications on how they can be interpreted.

  • Alex Imbrogno is a methodologist at Statistics Canada in the Statistical Integration Methods Division. He has been working in Census weighting and estimation for two and a half years. He attended Carleton University where he completed his bachelors and masters in Statistics.
  • Emily Campling is a methodologist at Statistics Canada in the Statistical Integration Methods Division. She has worked in census weighting and estimation since 2021 and was a contributor to the 2021 Census Data Quality Guidelines. She has a PhD in mathematics from the University of Montreal.
