Taxfiler tables from Statistics Canada's Income Statistics Division (formerly SAAD Division) have arrived. The tables include 2010 Family, Seniors, and Neighbourhood income and demographics, as well as 2010 and 2011 Financial tables. 2011 Family, Seniors, and NID tables will be available later in the summer, according to Statistics Canada.
In terms of geographic scale, we have acquired the following:
- census tracts
- rural six-digit postal codes (with "0" as the second digit)
- postal cities (similar to CSD)
- forward sortation areas (3-digit postal codes)
- a few other postal geographies
In response to feedback from users, we are cleaning the tables before cataloguing them. Each table will be a standalone .xlsx file between 5 and 30 Mb, rather than one large file file containing all of the tables. As well, each table will have tabs for variables, geographies, source information, and a copy of the original unformatted table that we received from Statistics Canada.
Table 1 from the Family data tables has already been catalogued. The rest of the tables will appear in the catalogue over the subsequent three weeks, beginning with Family tables 1 to 18 this week. In addition, stay tuned for a Product Profile on taxfiler data in September.
